International Jones - Street Player

Off the Fiend and Cookin Soul colab, Iron Chef, comes this gem.  Fiend or international Jones whatever he going by these days has a real cool voice and he flows right over this superfly beat.  This was a cool project all in all, I'm a big fan of Cookin Soul productions in general and Fiend's style, voice, and lyrical texture definitely lend themselves well to these tracks. If you haven't given it a listen yet, well I suggest you change that.  In the meantime in between time, enjoy this track

Loving this track! Super smooth beat, love the hook, Stalley comes correct and Spitta never disappoints.  Great new school rap, not much else to say..

4EvaNaDay Theme - Big K.R.I.T.

K.R.I.T. is one of the best rappers around these days. Period.  This is the theme song from his new project 4eva N A Day and was created to capture the feel of the tape as a whole.  Its funny to me cuz this song reminds me a lot of the R4 theme song, which is also a great track off his last tape  Return of 4 Eva. Anyways, I have always shied away from southern rap for the most part, but K.R.I.T. is just too good, too consistent, and produces all of his own songs which is super impressive.  Anyways sit back and listen to quality rap music.

Prodigy - Slaughterhouse

Been a big Mobb Deep fan for years and years and I'm pretty much am down with whatever P puts out especially.  This track is a highlight off his new HNIC 3 mixtape.  While I don't condone rappers reusing album tittles over and over like this, especially when the original was a classic, this tape is pretty good. Get it HERE.  The beat is tight and P is doing what he does best, but what strikes me most about this track is how it is such a soft and easy beat with such violent vocals over it.  Never heard of this producer, SC, but he made a banger here, it definitely works.  anyways, enjoy

Faces - Yelawolf

Yelawolf been killing it lately and is definitely one of my favorite new rappers. He's good at taking on big heavy beats like this and then crushing them. This track is off his new EP with Ed Sheeran Slumdon Bridge, which is quality listening material, as is most of what Yela puts out.  Its good shit and if you havent listened to much Yelawolf, well I suggest you change that.

#SampleSchool: Patrice Rushen - Remind Me (1982)

Ok, sources of rap samples have always been of great interest to me, so from time to time I'm gonna throw in some cornerstone sample sources on here to put yall up on OG game.  This genre is so sample based it never stops amazing me, but I love it.  Anyways, this one right here was a staple of mid 90's west coast rap and used in a shit load of songs, my favorite being Mack 10 - Here Comes the G. If you have not heard a song that has used this sample before, I'm not sure you really listen to rap music. Actually you can download a .zip of a bunch of the songs that have sampled this one HERE, I stumbled upon this goldmine by accident actually, but this is great resource in your sample source education.

Brother Ali ft. Phonte & Stockley Williams - I'll Be Around

Perfect jam for a sunday.  I been familiar with Brother Ali for 10+ years now but never really gave dude a listen.  So he puts out this EP last week and i check it out... and its fire.  I suggest yall DL this asap, dude's been in the game a while and still putting out great shit.  The track is super smooth, Phonte is always solid, Ali holds it down and Stockley Williams on the hook rounds out this damn near perfect song. Glad I decided to give Ali an ear finally

Neako - Under the Shade (2009)

Man this is one of my favorite songs maybe ever.  SUPER cool beat, I liked the stuff Neako was doing a couple years back a little more than what he is putting out these days, but he definitely kills this song.  This one is off his mixtape Rubix Cube: Blue Edition. Love the lyrics, love the beat, I can listen to this one no matter what kind of mood I'm in, instant classic for me.

Inspektah Deck - City High (2003)

Ok, this one has been a favorite since I first heard it.  Love Wu-Tang as a whole, but never been too impressed with Rebel INS...until this song.  Anyways, this beat is fire, Deck kills it, real rap, paints a gritty picture, if you don't like this song, you don't really like rap music.

Cyhi Da Prynce ft B.O.B. - Stadium

This song is great.  Chorus is amazing, I think it's an original for this song, can't find the sample source anywhere but it's fire where ever it's from.  Cyhi is kinda like Rick Ross to me, definitively not stylistically speaking, but a good enough lyricist and entertaining rapper with great beat selection leads to a pretty good rap artist these days IMO.  B.O.B. doesn't disappoint either, and an overall super solid track.  This is off Royal Flush 2 which is not new, but I kinda just rediscovered this joint so I'm throwing it back out there.

Action Bronson ft Nina Sky - Cocoa Butter

I don't know why I haven't put this song up yet! I can't hear this song enough times! For real I've listened to this song at least five times a day for the last month and a half, and haven't gotten tired of it yet.  The beat is incredible, Statik Selektah is a monster and probably the most unsung producer doing it right now.  Bronson murders this track, and is another talent quickly on the rise who I feel is still flying under most folks radar.  And I always loved Nina Sky' voices, so that some icing on the cake.  This track is maybe all i need in a rap song, and I wish every person liked it as much as I do.

Asher Roth - In the Kitchen (Prod. Chuck English)

Never been a super big Asher Roth fan, but he does drop bombs from time to time, this being one of them.  Love this song, love the Chuck English dirty ass beat and Asher definitely holds it down.  For sure one of my favorite jams as of late.  Whole tape can be Pabtst Jazz can be found here

This is probably the greatest rap duet of all time.  Lyrical and tells this story exceptionally.  If your girl likes rap, put her on to this, its a classic no doubt, wish more folks knew about it.  Enjoy

If you never heard this song and claim to like rap music, I dont even know what to say. CLASSIC from way back in the day, this whole album was the shit, and still is. Off the JETS new album, Jet World Order, probably my favorite cut from there.  Super chill, super smooth, always lifts my mood hearing this one.  Curren$y definitely been on a pretty good roll here these last couple years, and Roddy and Trademark are most certainly starting to hold it down consistently on every track they bless.  This what I'm gonna fall asleep to tonight, but yet and still, probably first thing Ima put on in the morning too.

Been jammin to this one a lot lately.  Classic old school feel with the soul sample but still a real contemporary vibe.  I like B.O.B. on tracks like this much better than the singing popish type stuff  from his album, Bun B is always a consistent feature and I'm pretty much down with whatever K.R.I.T. does.  This whole mixtape, E.P.I.C. is definitely worth a listen and don't his studio album style take away from the fact that he still goes in and is one of the most entertaining rappers doing it these days

Been waiting for these Gone Fishing instrumentals to come out since the tape dropped, and couldn't be any more glad that they finally did if just for this track alone.  Definitely my favorite song on the tape and one of my favorite instrumentals as well.  Original track with vocals was called Summer Vacations and takes me back to the best summer of my life, great track

New Chip Tha Ripper Mixtape - 'Tell Ya Friends'

Had to post up this one, and it's a good one for my first post on here.  Chip says Tell Ya Friends so that's I'm doing.  I have been liking this man's music increasingly with every new release and this one is a keeper and a tape that will stay in rotation for weeks to come.  Some highlights for me were Pocket Full and Hold me Down just to name a couple.  Overall super smooth and laid back tape, not too over the top, just real rap
